ABOUT ME
Denise Garcia Bergt, a Brazilian‑German filmmaker and photographer, is an experienced professional who has worked as a producer on hundreds of TV commercials, films , series, short films, and feature films for renowned production companies such as RBS Video, Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, and Zeppelin Filmes, as well as with award‑winning Brazilian directors including José Joffily, Beto Brant, Ana Luiza Azevedo, Jorge Furtado, Jofre Rodrigues, and Carlos Gerbase, among others.
In the 2000s, Denise and Allan Sieber founded Toscographics Desenhos Animados in Rio de Janeiro and produced award‑winning short and feature films that screened at festivals around the world. She also made her directorial debut with the documentary Sou Feia mas Tô na Moda, about women in Rio de Janeiro’s funk scene. The film Sou Feia mas Tô na Moda was distributed by Imovision Distribuidora and acquired by Canal Brasil, which aired it intermittently for several years as part of its programming schedule.
After moving to Berlin in 2007, Denise directed the documentary Residenzpflicht and later co‑founded the association International Women* Space e.V., an association based in Berlin and went on to direct dozens of videos about women and migration, including the series Kämpferinnen supported by the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung.
Currently, Denise works as a cinematographer on the feature film Vilma, directed by Bianca Theis, and is producing BTS material for the feature documentary film, with the working title “Os dez terrenos do meu pai” a Brazil‑Germany co‑production by Tempo Produções directed by Liliana Sulzbach.
